From The Structure of Scientific Revolutions
In 1985, Anna Spence was born at a very young age. For 26 years, she succesfully avoided chasing a career in the arts. Then in 2011, she decided that was stupid. Since then, her work has shown at micro cinemas, internationally recognized film festivals and art shows across the country. Born and raised ITP (inside the perimeter of Atlanta Georgia), she often ventures OTP (outside the perimeter) for film festivals and residencies. Depending on who you ask, she is either an experimental filmmaker or a video artist. Either way, she works at the cross section of these two practices,“to explore the technology of the times to see what it wants to do, what it has to tell us, what it can reveal about ourselves and how it can be pushed beyond the intentions of its design”. In addition to publishing / P R O C E S S / and leading the occasional workshop, she runs a local screening series in Atlanta called Video Video Nasty!, which presents high brow video art, low brow midnight movies, and other moving images not tame enough to play in mainstream cinemas.
